FAQs

Common questions from families considering a professional intervention.

What is a professional intervention?

A professional intervention is a structured, compassionate meeting where family members — guided by a trained interventionist — help a loved one see the impact of their addiction and take a step toward treatment.

How does the Walsh Intervention process work?

We begin with a confidential family consultation, then prepare each participant for their role. On the day of the intervention, John or Zach facilitates the conversation and guides everyone — and ideally, the loved one — toward a clear next step.

Who is a good candidate for intervention?

Anyone whose addiction or behavior is causing harm to themselves and their family — and who has not responded to informal conversations or personal attempts to seek help.

What if my loved one refuses treatment?

Refusal is not the end of the road. We help families establish clear, loving boundaries and a plan for what comes next — so the family is stronger regardless of outcome, and the door stays open.

Do you work with families outside of Louisville?

Yes. While we’re based in Louisville, KY, we travel for interventions across the United States. Our primary service area is Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, and Tennessee — but distance is rarely an obstacle when a family is in crisis.
